Indian Hills Traffic Impact Announcement

Parents/Guardians,

On Thursday, October 26th, Indian Hills High School will be conducting their mandatory bus emergency evacuation drills in the front of the school from 7:00 AM – 7:40 AM. As such, you should expect some impact on the morning traffic flow and student drop off area. Please plan accordingly and allow extra travel time tomorrow morning.

Traffic and Student Drop Off & Pickup Updates

We have established a traffic pattern in and around Indian Hills High School with lane markings, a drop off and thru lane, signage, and speed bumps with the primary concern for safety and traffic management. As a general rule, drivers need to practice courtesy, responsibility and patience. Please be mindful of pedestrians.

In order to reduce traffic on the entrance & exit ramp for the student parking lot, please do not use the lot for dropping off or picking up your children during arrival or dismissal.

Ways to ease congestion:

  • Allow the buses access to the drop-off/pick-up lane first
  • Keep the traffic moving as much as possible
  • Please drive as far forward as you can in the drop off / pick up zone
  • Pull up close, but at a safe distance to the car in front of you
  • Do not cross over the solid white traffic line to cut in or take short cuts
  • Do not leave your car in the drop off lane while you go into the school. If you need to go into the school, please park in a visitor designated parking space
  • If you have to wait in a no parking zone, stay to the right, close to the yellow curb, and do not leave your car unattended
  • In an effort to reduce vehicular traffic traveling through our designated pedestrian crosswalk, dropping off and picking up students in the Faculty and Board of Education parking lot is strictly prohibited

Thank you – Dr. Greg Vacca, Principal
