Statement Regarding School Violence

Dear Indian Hills Community,

The news about Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida is very tragic and disturbing. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to all affected by this unthinkable act of violence.

This morning I addressed the incident with our students, staff, and teachers in the building. I assure you that we work together as a community, with the help of local law enforcement, to help keep ourselves as safe and secure as possible. We continue to evaluate our security procedures on a constant basis in order to employ the best practices that support a safe learning environment.

Attached are documents that we have shared with the staff to help us talk about school violence with our children. We share them with you in order to help facilitate open communication at home, as well as in school.

Please know that we take the safety and security of our school community very seriously. If you have any questions, concerns, or insights, please do not hesitate to contact me.
