IH Academic Decathlon Region II Champs!Congratulations to the members of the Indian Hills Academic Decathlon team-- they are Region II champions and are moving on to States!


The team that competed at Saturday’s Regionals Competition include: Lydia Park (team captain), Cora Mayer-Costa, Ariel Tkach, Grace Romitelli, Emily Salman, Victoria Boyce, Aly McCormick, Sam Eilert, Aidan Chumas, Sofia Wuensch, Liz Weiner, Joe Park, Natalie Ambrose, Alexandra Mazur, and Rebbeca Baik.


At Saturday’s competition, the tea, also placed first at the Super Quiz Relay, in which the regular team directly faced off against the other schools in the region concerning this year’s topic, Illness and Wellness.


For the Honors regular team:
Lydia Park, our team’s MVP, earned silver medals in social science and art, and bronze medals in math, literature, science, music, economics, and speech. She was the highest scoring player on our Honors regular team, and she was also the highest scoring Honors decathlete in the region.
Cora Mayer-Costa earned honorable mentions in literature and interview.
For the Scholastic regular team:
Grace Romitelli earned a silver medal in social science. She also earned honorable mentions in essay and literature.
Emily Salman earned a gold medal in social science, bronze medals in math, literature, and music, and honorable mentions in essay, science, and art. She was the third highest scoring Scholastic decathlete in the region.
Victoria Boyce earned gold medals in essay, science, and art, and silver medals in literature, and economics. She was the highest scoring player on our Scholastic team and in the region.
For the Varsity regular team:
Aly McCormick earned gold medals in social science, art, and economics, and a bronze medal in literature.
Sam Eilert earned gold medals in math, literature, and science, bronze medals in essay, art, and music, and honorable mentions in social science and interview. He was the highest scoring player on our Varsity team and the second highest in the region.
Aidan Chumas earned a silver medal in speech and an honorable mention in interview.
For our alternates:
Sofia Wuensch earned bronze medals in social science and economics.
Liz Weiner earned silver medals in art and music, and bronze medals in science and social science.
Joe Park earned gold medals in literature and music, silver medals in science, social science, and art, and a bronze medal in economics.
Natalie Ambrose earned a bronze medal in economics.
Alexandra Mazur earned silver medals in literature and music, as well as bronze medals in art and economics.

The state finals will take place at Westwood Regional High School on Saturday, February 29.
